SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Community3e do not post everything that is sent, we review discuss and then post material we receive that is considered good enough.

All submissions are reviewed for content, balance, playability and relevance. This information will be relayed back to the writer and any changes that we think need to be made before posting for download. Should a submission be refused the reasons will be given and the writer allowed to change the submission if they wish.

We will be posting all material as Open Game Content so anyone can use them, in their own submissions or other publications, as long as you are credited, if you want to submit closed content material please specify so in the submission.

A few simple guide lines will make a submission more likely to make it on to the downloads of Community3e:
  1. Submit original material, do not copy someone else's work . If you are submitting derivative material credit the original author, and where it came from, web site, book etc. If it is something modified from published material that is NOT written under the Open Game License we will not use it.
  2. Read as much material that others have written so you do not duplicate what someone else has already done.
  3. The submissions must be rated PG. We will not accept anything of questionable nature.
  4. The submissions must be related to Dungeons and Dragons 3rd Edition, d20 system or be generic in nature.
  5. We will only post detailed submissions, which follow standardised d20 content. If sending a class, prestige or otherwise it must contain the standard elements of those classes and follow the format laid down within the Core Rule Books.*
  6. Posting the submission, if it is a class or monster or feat, on the Community 3e Forums is the best place to start. Feedback is available there to prevent the standard mistakes being made. Do not send unsolicited sketches, instead post them on the Forums, and then can do the final versions with the aid of the comments from our community.
  7. The files must be in one of the following formats: *.html, *.xml, Excel, Word, Rich Text, Text or *.pdf. Large files are best submitted using *.zip. If the file is a graphic, it can be in any web compatible format. Locking or security protecting your work is acceptable but make sure it can be read and printed.
  8. Send your email address and any homepage URL that you would like to appear as a link besides your name. The posting of your email is optional, if you don't want it to be posted be sure to warn us within the submission.
  9. Write your name on the top or bottom of your submissions, this way you will ensure that everyone will read it.
  10. Read the Class Construction Engine before even starting with a Class or Prestige.
  11. Read the Open Game License, but do not worry if it baffles you.
  12. Finally, if you need submission templates for anything you send, we highly recommend these ones, sent by Gryphon:
Generic Template | Race Template | Class Template | Feat Template | Monster Template | Spell Template
(Hint: Download the template files to your template directory C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates and they become part of your options when making a new document.)

* We will also give ratings to each submission based on quality of writing, rules content, originality or theme:
  1. Powerful/Unbalanced -- An interesting idea or content that should not be used without modification. Generally material that was not made according with the standard d20 framework, but is still interesting enough to post. Such as classes with too many bonuses or races that do not have an appropriate ecl or Challenge Rating.
  2. Comic/Weird -- Material with a novel idea but which is clearly comical, or too weird to play in most of the standard d20 rules/settings.
  3. Classic -- Material that is reasonably balance and ok to use with standard d20 rules/setting without too much modifications.
  4. Relic -- Material that is original, balanced, well written and can be slotted into most campaign worlds without modification.
